Archive for World

From an experienced world traveller, I’ve been everywhere but do you know where the ten most expensive cities in the world

I have made it my mission to travel to as many different countries in my life time and it’s something my husband and kids also aspire to do.

We may be Australian Citizens but we weren’t born here and grew up in many different places in the world, travelling is something you can never really stop doing.

Two years ago, my daughter bought my husband a big huge map of the world that can be rolled out and framed.

Before it can be framed though, there is one catch to it….. it’s a BIG giant SCRATCHIE! No you don’t win any money but it was a great night when we all got together and scratched all the different countries we had been too.

I’m planning on going on another one for my birthday and “scratching” another couple countries off the list but I was reading something the other day about the 10 most expensive cities in the world and so I googled it again and here they are!

10. Geneva

9. Caracas

8. Paris

7. Zurich

6. Singapore

5. Melbourne

4. Oslo

3. Sydney

2. Osaka

1. Tokyo

This was based on prices of some of the main staples of living, from clothing to groceries, pricing out everyday items such as a loaf of bread, bottle of wine and pack of cigarettes.

It’s nice to know that Perth isn’t in the Top 10 but it’s not nice to see both Sydney and Melbourne on the list. Won’t this be bad for tourism? Won’t tourists stop coming here because it’s too expensive….

18 Countries, 12 States, 55 Beds and they are finally here!

I finally got to lay my eyes on and physically hug my son Merv and his girlfriend Toni yesterday afternoon when I picked them up from the international airport.

I was lucky to have been able to see them 3 months into their trip in Italy but there were tears from Toni and her family who hasn’t seen them for almost a year and she finally got to hold her 7 month old niece and  her nephew that has grown from a toddler to a real little boy.

They flew Air Asia via Kuala Lumpur for a 2 hour stop over from Tokyo, Japan where they spent 4 nights after an 11+ hour flight from Los Angeles.

They are very happy to be home and I am even happier to have them here and they truly have had the trip of a lifetime.

With lots of stories to tell and a countless number of photos, it was wonderful to know they enjoyed every part of their trip and hear all about the different places and lifestyles they experienced.

With 18 countries, 12 states and 55 beds and roughly 60,000 km’s under their belt, it has taken me my whole lifetime to experience what they have in just a short year and I couldn’t be happier for them!

If you have any questions for them about where they have been, what their favourite place was or their worst/best experience was please let me know and i’ll get it answered for you!

But yay i’m so happy they are finally here!

An update from my son and his travels – Merv and Toni do the Farm Life

My clients and people on my email list often ask me how my son Merv is going on his travels and although I speak to him at least once a week it’s still nice to hear the details of his travels.

So I asked him and his girlfriend Toni to write a post and tell us all about where they are, where they have been and where they are going.
