Buying and selling during the holidays

With today’s hectic lifestyle revolving around work, family and little else, finding the time to look for your ideal property in a relaxed state of mind is becoming increasingly difficult.

Buyers are forced to use their lunch breaks and the few short hours after work to view properties because of the demands work and family place on their time.

It makes perfect sense then, to use your holiday time to look for your perfect property, especially if the budget is a little tight and an expensive holiday is out of the question. With extra time on your hands, researching properties and viewing them won’t feel like work. With little tension, the decision on whether to put in an offer or not is made easier.

On the other hand, holidays can also be an ideal time to sell a property, especially if you lead a busy lifestyle or have a handful of children tramping through the house at all hours. Families should take advantage by planning a vacation. This allows the property to be left in showroom condition for limitless viewings and eases the pressure on having to restyle the house every time someone comes to view it.

If you still don’t have the time to look at your buying or selling options, research has shown that the weeks following a holiday period can also be beneficial as people are re-energized and buoyant after holidaying.
